NEWS FROM THE CE

Well, we have a new PONY EXPRESS Newsletter out this month!

Golf Tournament a Success

The 2002 edition of the Wild West Show Grand Prix was a huge success. April 24 was thankfully unusually warm and sunny. Twenty two people turned out to participate or watch this years event, held at an outdoor course between Marne la Vallée and Melun.

The Go Karts were equipped with Yamaha 250cc engines. Much more powerful than in past years.

Excitement was high and the boastful talk was everywhere.

At the end of four different time trials, involving numerous wrecks and lead changes, The winner was Bruce McEwen (show Director), followed by Jimmy Kitson, and Brock Holbrook in third.

Immediately following the racing, the trophy presentation was held and the obligatory showering of Champagne was held.

All proceeded then to the picnic area where a tailgate party had already started. During the winding down party, our WWS Grand Prix Drawings were held.

Winners were, Devlin with a racing Jacket and Cathy with an auto repair toolkit.

All agreed that we should have another soon.

Ten Year Anniversary of the Wild West Show

Despite an official name change, an announcement of the show closing, numerous manager changes, a somewhat less energetic than necessary marketing of the Wild West Show. We celebrated our tenth anniversary on April 12, 2002.

During the last few months, it has been made known that the show is healthy and one of only a few places making money consistently. Word has it unofficially that the show will stay open till at least 2006.

During the anniversary shows on April 12, a new and temporary event was held in place of the flag event. Pony races!

The ponies were anything less than cooperative, which made for an exciting and hilarious race.

After the shows, a celebration was held in the pre function where our present management team were outrageously dressed. Cake and beer were served and awards were presented to honor cast member achievements. A retrospective video by Mike Lewis was presented to honor the beginning stages of the show and the people still here. Interviews and old clips were shown.

All agreed that it was a great party and a night to remember.
